Two New Victorian homes, designed and built by James in 1997, were required to be historically accurate and approved by the Santa Cruz Historical commission. These homes at 116 & 120 Santa Cruz Street are photographed by tourists and locals believing them to be authentic historical Victorian homes. These homes are featured in “The Sidewalk Companion to: Santa Cruz Architecture” by John Chase.

James is also a multiple recipient of the Green Building Design award from the City of Santa Cruz.
